Joining PLATIPUS

If you are pregnant and at risk of having a preterm birth AND you are receiving care at a hospital that is taking part in PLATIPUS, you may be invited to take part in pregnancy research.

If you baby is born preterm AND is receiving care at a hospital that is taking part in PLATIPUS, your baby may be invited to take part in neonatal research.

Please speak to your health professional about whether any of the studies (or 'domains') available at your hospital could be right for you or your baby.

Click here to find out more about currently active domains.

What is involved?

Each domain is different. If you are invited to take part, you will be given information about what is involved. Please let your health professional know if you have any questions.

Taking part in PLATIPUS is voluntary. If you are asked about PLATIPUS and do not wish to participate, please let the team know. This will not affect the care you or your baby receive.

Collecting Information

If you are eligible for a PLATIPUS domain, you will be provided with information about which data PLATIPUS will collect about you and your baby, how this will be stored and how PLATIPUS will look after it.

Ask your Health Professional

If you are pregnant and expecting your baby early, please ask your health professional about whether PLATIPUS is right for you. We would love to welcome you to the PLATIPUS paddle (group).
